Coeliac disease is a long-term autoimmune disorder that primarily affects the small intestine. It is caused by a (over) reaction to gluten, and often affects people that are genetically prone to it.
New ESPGHAN recommendations suggest diagnosis for coeliac disease also among people with other diseases, including thyroid disorders, and relatives.
